In recent years, new potential market applications related to EPD have led to an increased interest among various stakeholders in many countries to take part in the work related to the PCR development. The ambition is to make the PCR documents as internationally applicable as possible, thereby avoiding unnecessary barriers to trade.
The international standards, research papers and market best practices such as ISO 14025 and the Guidance for PCR development recommends global harmonisation efforts in Product Category Rules. To play a role in this development and to fulfill its role as a programme operator, the International EPD® System:
Please note that EPDs registered in the International EPD® System may only be done based on PCRs developed within the framework of the programme or adopted into the PCR database after review and an agreement with the programme in which the PCR was developed.
