Asphalt mixtures SAMI from Klaipėda asphalt plant of AB "Eurovia Lietuva"

Klaipėda asphalt plant of AB „Eurovia Lietuva“ produces and sells asphalt mixtures for a variety of different purposes, ranging from highways, roads and city streets to industrial pavements.

This EPD is for 2 types of asphalt mixtures produced by Klaipėda asphalt plant of AB „Eurovia Lietuva“. The declared asphalt mixtures produced at the Klaipėda asphalt plant are intended to be used as Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer (SAMI) primarily to mitigate reflective cracking in asphalt pavements. It is applied as an interlayer between an old pavement surface (typically concrete or asphalt) and a new overlay, offering improved flexibility and resistance to cracks that can propagate from the underlying layer into the new one. These asphalt mixtures can be used in all types of applications, such as high-speed roads, airfields, industrial plants, ports, streets and cycle paths. The products consist of a mixture of aggregates polymer-modified bitumen asphalt and additives. The amount of each component varies depending on the asphalt mixture. The GWP-GHG result of the declared asphalt mixture group is in a variation of <10%.

Since asphalt mixtures comprise valuable resources and are 100 % recyclable, asphalt mixtures can be reused into new asphalt mixtures. Accordingly, reclaimed asphalt is normally added to the asphalt mixture, replacing virgin aggregate and virgin bitumen.
