API of the International EPD System

Desktop

As a leading programme operator in digitalisation, the Secretariat of the International EPD System (IES) is committed to continuously advancing digital solutions to meet increasing demands. One of the key features supporting this effort is the Application Prorgamming Interface (API).

Types of API

The International EPD Systemoffers two types of API:

  1. Upstream API

  2. Downstream API

Upstream API

The Upstream API is currently available only for construction products and fully pre-verified tools seeking integration with the IES. It enables the direct transfer of data in JSON format from the tool into the IES for publication.

Getting started:

  1. Create a free account via this link: https://epd-apim.developer.azure-api.net/

  2. Follow the step-by-step guide provided on the same page to set up your API account and begin integration.

For more information on the tool verification process, please visit Pre-Verified Tools.

Downstream API

The Downstream API is designed for users who wish to download data from EPD Library. The Environdec External Downstream API provides EPD data in ILCD+EPD format, along with multiple endpoints available upon account creation at:
https://epd-apim.developer.azure-api.net/

For access to EPDs from other programme operators beyond IES, integration with ECO Platform is recommended.
