XPS Tile Backer Board

Composite tile backer board with an extruded-polystyrene (XPS) core, glass-fibre mesh and cementitious surface layers on both faces; nominal 600 × 1200 × 12 mm. Its key function is a stable, water-resistant substrate for tiles and slabs; thermal insulation is a secondary function, and under c-PCR-005 the product is declared as a tile backer board with a thermal-insulation function. Manufacturing comprises cutting the purchased XPS board and mesh, preparing mortar, bonding the mesh, air drying and repeating the surface treatment on the reverse face. Influence on building operation: the board adds thermal resistance to the wall or floor build-up (see technical performance); the product itself uses no operational energy or water. Restrictions: the declaration covers use as tile backing on interior walls and floors; other uses are not covered. Reference service life: not declared (B1–B7 are not declared).
