Composite elements with decorative HPL

Kronospan GmbH composite elements are used as kitchen surfaces in businesses and private households.

Composite elements from Kronospan GmbH can be used as decorative surface elements in commercial establishments and private households, for example:

• Furniture & interior design

• Kitchens & contract furniture

• Shop & contract construction

• Clinics & laboratories

• Trade fair and partition wall construction

• Schools

• Public buildings.

The composite elements are UV-resistant, hygienic, dirt-repellent, easy to clean, heat-resistant and resistant to common household cleaners.

The purchased raw chipboard from Sandebeck and Jhilava (Czech Republic) is glued in the laying station and coated with laminate (HPL). In the subsequent composite press, the three components are pressed together under pressure and heat. Optionally, the board is then sawn lengthwise. The finished boards are cooled and temporarily stored.

The heat required for the pressing process is generated in a biomass combustion plant heating system using waste wood. The wood consists of wood residues from the production process or waste wood of categories AI and AII. The wood residues can be defective chipboard (containing glue) and wood dust (containing glue) produced on site, as well as waste wood of categories AI and AII in accordance with the Waste Wood Ordinance. The heat is supplied via a hot water circuit. The loads from this heat recovery are taken into account in module A3.

Kronospan GmbH products are available in various configurations, sizes, and dimensions.All products considered are manufactured from the same raw materials and undergo the same production steps. Only the dimensions of the standard formats offered and the different thicknesses of the panels affect the format of the finished product. Due to the identical production steps and bulk density within the product groups, the productcomposition is comparable with each other, even with different volumes per unit. The declared volume is determined based on the total annual volume andweight of all products and is therefore representative of the average product.Therefore, the life cycle assessment results can be scaled depending on thevolume.

In accordance with PCR 2019:14 and EN 15804+A2, this report refers to an average product from one of the manufacturer's plants, calculated using data that represents a representative average for the products declared in the EPD. The values of the life cycle assessment can be derived from the declared average values using accessible, documented rules.
