Multical 603 UF54

MultiCal 603 UF54 is a modular thermal energy meter consisting of a calculator unit, ultrasonic flow sensor, paired temperature sensors, a communication module, and a battery power supply. The system measures thermal energy in water-based heating and cooling installations.

Calculator Module: The calculator processes flow and temperature signals to determine thermal energy consumption in heating, cooling, or combined systems. It supports electronic or mechanical flow sensors and up to three temperature sensors. The unit includes an LCD display and is battery-powered (lithium battery, see Power Supply Module). It contains programmable electronics and interfaces for data integration and configuration.

Communication Module: The communication module provides hard-wired serial data transfer for automated meter reading using the Kamstrup KMP protocol. It contains galvanic isolation circuitry and allows access to current and historical measurement data without significantly affecting battery life.

Power Supply Module: The device is typically powered by a long-life lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl₂) D-cell battery designed for multi-year operation (up to 20+ years, 61,2 Wh of nominal energy).

Temperature Sensor Module: This module includes paired platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) for measuring inlet and outlet water temperatures. The sensors provide analogue temperature values through resistance change and are designed for immersion in heating and cooling systems (waterproof grade IP68).

Flow meter module: The ULTRAFLOW 54 is an ultrasonic flow sensor using the transit-time principle. It provides bidirectional flow measurement and long-term accuracy. It communicates with the calculator via a three-wire pulse cable that supplies power and transmits volume-proportional pulses. The flow meter includes microprocessor-based electronics and a compact housing.
