Precast concrete structural elements

Precast concrete elements are structural components primarily subjected to bending or compression forces.

Main types of linear reinforced concrete elements:

1. Beams and Girders (bending elements). Commonly used in horizontal structural systems such as floors, ceilings, and bridges. These elements resist bending: the top is in compression, and the bottom is in tension, requiring reinforcement in the tensile zone.

2. Columns (compression elements). Vertical structural elements that transfer loads from slabs or roofs to the foundations. Primarily subjected to axial compression forces, though they may also experience bending moments.
