SDO Merging unit (MU)

The SDO Merging unit (MU) integrates the latest communications and measurement standards. It is a key component of the optical current transformer system. It manages bidirectional optical communication with up to three optical current sensors and can also interface with conventional CTs and VTs. The unit performs signal processing and analog-to-digital conversion, sampling values in compliance with IEC 61850-9-2LE and IEC 61869-9 standards. It synchronizes and merges current and voltage channels, then encodes the data into Sampled Values (SV) format, transmitting it via two redundant Ethernet ports to the process bus network.
