100% recycled (PCR) Plastic Cable Drums with EU Steel

All products included in this EPD are plastic & steel cable drums, 100% recycled (PCR) and EU steel. 102 variations will be included in this product group, and they all consist of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic with EU steel pipes. The material composition variation of the included product varies, with plastic content ranging from 92-98% and the steel content 8-2% (the cable drum contain four or six steel pipes). The size and dimension of the products can differ, with some cable drums having the same dimension but vary in weight. All included products share the same geographical scope and production site. 

The cable drum “800 standard (dimension 800*400*83*480*400), with the article number 280064010” was chosen as representative product as it is the most sold of all the products in this product group. Since the declared unit is defined as 1 kg of cable drum (kg/kg product), the analysis was normalised to the material composition per kilogram of product. This approach means that the absolute weight of an individual drum does not affect the results; instead, the relative share of plastic and steel determines the calculated environmental impacts per kilogram. By calculating these shares, the 102 cable drum dimensions could be grouped into seven unique composition variants, ranging from approximately 92% plastic and 8% steel to 98% plastic and 2% steel. These seven compositions capture the relevant differences within the product group, where each 102 dimensions can be allocated to one of them. The representative product has a composition of 95% plastic and 5% steel.
