The product assessed is a choke 16 2/3Hz, 2x3A produced by Transformator-Teknik - a specialized type of transformer component used to block high-frequency alternating current (AC) while permitting low-frequency signals or direct current (DC) to pass. Chokes are commonly utilized in power supplies and filtering applications. This specific choke serves an important function in railway systems, providing protection for rectifiers and track relays from track currents. The choke is manufactured from copper wire, silicon‑alloy steel plates, an injection‑moulded PA66 casing, polyurethane foam, and several smaller plastic parts and insulating film. These components are delivered to the Åmål facility, where the steel plates are stacked, the copper wire is wound, all parts are assembled and enclosed in the casing, and the unit is filled with polyurethane foam for stability before packaging. The expected lifespan of the choke is 40 years.
