Plate Mill Plates produced at the Steel Authority of India Limited - Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) are hot-rolled flat steel products manufactured from carbon and low-alloy steels through an integrated blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steelmaking route followed by slab casting and hot rolling in the plate mill. The products are characterised by uniform thickness, high mechanical strength, toughness, and durability, making them suitable for demanding structural and engineering applications.

Manufacturing involves reheating of steel slabs and controlled hot rolling using advanced plate mill technologies, including automatic gauge control for thickness accuracy, controlled rolling and cooling practices, non-destructive ultrasonic testing for internal quality assurance, and automated marking and traceability systems.
