Barilla Pasta Protein + sold in USA

This Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is about Barilla Protein+ pasta sold in paperboard box, produced for US market in the Barilla’s pasta plant of Ames. Protein+ pasta is made from selected durum wheat semolina and pea protein; is produced by extrusion or lamination and then a drying process. The pasta production process does not require additives and preservatives: it is the drying process that guarantees the conservation.

Products included in the analysis are Protein+ pasta cuts (spaghetti, penne, rotini, etc.); made with selected durum wheat semolina and protein from lentils, chickpeas, and peas offering a higher protein content while maintaining the traditional taste and texture of classic pasta.

Shape is the only feature differentiating these products, since they are all produced using semolina and pea protein. The product is sold in 411 grams (14.5 oz) packages.
