Steel plates produced via imported slabs in unalloyed form
Unalloyed steel plates manufactured at the NLMK Italia plant in Verona by hot rolling of semi-finished slabs produced externally via the Blast Furnace – Basic Oxygen Furnace (BF–BOF) route. Plates are available in thicknesses ranging from 14 mm to 320 mm, and are characterised by close dimensional tolerances, excellent flatness and straightness, sound surface quality, and low decarburisation depth, making them well suited for forging and machining applications.
In the upstream steelmaking process, pig iron is produced in a blast furnace from iron ore and subsequently refined with ferro-alloys in a basic oxygen furnace to yield the input slabs. The rolled steel is available for further downstream processing, in accordance with customer specifications
