Wire Rods, IISCO Steel Plant - Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)

Wire rods covered under this Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) are produced at IISCO Steel Plant from carbon and low-alloy steels through an integrated steelmaking route. Production involves controlled hot rolling of billets in modern rod mills equipped with high-speed finishing blocks, controlled cooling systems, and automated gauge control to ensure consistent quality and compliance with IS 7904 and equivalent international standards. ISP Wire rods are used in applications such as wire drawing, fasteners, welding electrodes, reinforcement meshes, fencing, springs, and general engineering components. From a life cycle perspective, Wire rods provide long service life and high recyclability, supporting circular economy principles, while the environmental impacts associated with primary steel production are addressed within the scope of this EPD.
