Structural Steel Sections, IISCO Steel Plant - Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)
Structural steel sections produced at the IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) are high-strength hot-rolled steel products used in a wide range of structural and infrastructure applications. The Structural steel sections covered under this Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) include beams, channels, angles, and other rolled sections manufactured in accordance with IS 2062, IS 800, and other applicable national or international standards. These products are designed to provide high load-bearing capacity, dimensional accuracy, and long-term structural stability.
Structural steel sections at ISP are produced through an integrated steelmaking route involving blast furnace ironmaking, basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking, continuous casting of blooms, and hot rolling in universal section mill to obtain the required sectional profiles. Controlled rolling and cooling processes ensure the required mechanical properties such as strength, ductility, toughness, and weldability. Advanced rolling technologies, automated process controls, and heat-number-based traceability systems ensure consistent product quality and compliance with technical specifications. Structural steel sections are widely used in buildings, bridges, industrial structures, rail infrastructure, and other large-scale construction projects. Due to their long service life and high recyclability, structural steel sections support resource efficiency and circular economy objectives, while the environmental impacts associated with their production are addressed within the scope of this EPD
