Under development - Batteries and parts thereof (c-PCR under PCR 2024:06)

Open consultation of the draft PCR took place 2025-11-05 until 2025-12-26. Now the PCR is being updated based on the open consultation comments received.

The c-PCR is expected to be published in Q1 2026.

This will not be a standalone PCR but a complementary PCR (c-PCR) to the main PCR for electronic and electric equipment and electronic components that is under development. The c-PCR will provide additional rules and specifications for the specified product category.

The c-PCR shall be used together with the main PCR to assess the environmental performance of batteries and parts thereof and the declaration of this performance by an EPD.

The PCR will cover primary cells and primary batteries, electric accumulators, and parts of primary cells, primary batteries and electric accumulators. The product category corresponds to the UN CPC group 464 Accumulators, primary cells and primary batteries, and parts thereof.

The PCR will cover both stationary and mobile energy storage.
