Silica (SiO2) is the term used to describe a group of minerals composed of oxygen and silicon. Whilst it is the world’s second most abundant mineral, products containing at least 98% SiO2 are needed for industrial use. As a hard, chemically inert mineral with a high melting point, silica delivers a range of benefits across multiple applications: glass, ceramics, construction, metallurgy, sports turf and many others.
