MRA with PEP Ecopassport catalyses EPDs for Electronic and Electrical Products and Systems (EEPS)

Product Spefic Rules (PSRs) of PEP Ecopassport following EN 50963 can now be adopted as PCRs and/or c-PCRs in the International EPD System (IES), and vice versa, after the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) came into effect on 13 February 2025.

EPD International and PEP Ecopassport signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on February 13, 2025, marking the entry of a strategic partnership aimed at driving harmonisation across key markets.

This MRA represents a significant milestone, as it paves the way for mutual adoption and further alignment between the two programmes’ PCRs, c-PCRs and PSRs. This agreement fulfills reporting requirements under regulatory frameworks. It adheres to the EU standard for Sustainability on Construction Works (EN15804+A2) and the EU standard for Electronic and Electrical Products and Systems (EEPS) (EN 50693). The primary objective is to enhance harmonisation by aligning with industry standards, increasing EPD comparability, and mitigating redundancies and other inefficiencies in EPD development.

With IES’ new main PCR 2024:06 Electronic and electric equipment, and electronic components (non-construction) (EN 50693) (1.0.1) released in December 2024, PSRs from PEP Ecopassport can now be seamlessly adopted as PCRs and/or c-PCRs within IES. This adoption process will take place on an as-needed basis.
