As a leading programme operator in digitalisation, EPD International is committed to continuously advancing this field to meet the growing demands. One of the key features supporting this effort is our API for a more user-friendly and accessible EPD format.
Depending on how the data flow in the International EPD System (IES), there are two types of API: Upstream API and Downstream API.
The Upstream API is currently available only for construction products and fully pre-verified tools that wish to integrate with the International EPD System (IES). This enables data to be transferred in a JSON format directly from the tool IES for publication.
To get started, please follow the steps outlined below. Additional documentation will be available throughout the process.
For further details on the tool verification process, please refer to the following page: https://environdec.com/all-about-epds/lca-and-epd-tools
Getting Started with the Upstream API
1. Create a free account via this link: https://epd-apim.developer.azure-api.net/
2. Follow the step-by-step guide provided on the same page to set up your API account and begin using the service smoothly.
The Downstream API is designed for users who want to download data from the EPD Library of the International EPD System. The Environdec External Downstream API offers EPD data in ILCD+EPD format, along with several endpoints, which you can explore once you create an account here: External Downstream API
Please note: If you require access to all EPDs from various programme operators beyond the International EPD System, we recommend integrating with ECO Platform.
