Electricity from Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant
Vattenfall AB is the majority owner of the Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant. Forsmark is a base-load plant of the Swedish electricity system and is tuned to the consumption of electricity, running at maximum power output during the cold part of the year and at reduced power during the summer. The power plant comprises three boiling water reactors (BWR) of together app. 3274 MW and generates app. 24,6 TWh/year.
This EPD consists the full life cycle for nuclear power including construction, operation and dismantling of power plants and facilities for handling and storage of radioactive waste as well as the four fuel production stages from mine to power plant. The declared unit is 1 kWh electricity net generated and thereafter distributed to a customer connected to the Swedish regional grid.
