New Onboarding Course for Individual Verifiers in IES
The Secretariat of EPD International has launched a structured onboarding course for the newly approved individual verifiers within the International EPD System (IES). This initiative aims to provide practical guidance to ensure high-quality Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) through a rigorous verification process.
The Secretariat of EPD International introduced a comprehensive onboarding course designed to support newly approved individual verifiers for 2025, as they integrate into the International EPD System (IES). This course provides a structured introduction to key aspects of the IES and equips verifiers with the necessary knowledge and resources to uphold the quality and integrity of EPDs.
The onboarding course consists of three in-depth sessions followed by a dedicated follow-up session. These sessions cover essential topics, including:
- An overview of the IES structure and operations
- A detailed exploration of the General Programme Instructions (GPI) and Product Category Rules (PCRs)
- A step-by-step demonstration of the EPD Portal
Practical insights from an experienced verifier
This initiative is designed to foster a strong professional network within the IES and support individual verifiers from the outset of their journey, ensuring a collaborative effort to maintain high-quality EPDs. In alignment with this mission, the Secretariat was also honored to host two distinguished guest speakers:
- Nasser Ayoub, Managing Director of EPD MENA and an individual verifier in IES, who provided valuable insights into the MENA Co-Location Center, the role of IES Licensees, and strategies for promoting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and EPDs at a regional level
David Althoff Palm, an experienced individual verifier in IES, who shared practical verification tips and highlighted common challenges verifiers may encounter
To meet the increasing demand for EPDs, the Secretariat remains committed to supporting individual verifiers in conducting a robust and thorough verification process. The next round of applications for individual verifiers in IES for 2026 will open in September 2025.
