Launch of EPD MENA office
Wednesday March 15th, Hurghada, Egypt – The International EPD System announces the launch of EPD MENA. EPD MENA has come in time to help expand the practice of EPDs in a highly demanding market of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
CEO of EPD International, Sebastiaan Stiller, announced the launch of EPD MENA in a video message during a talk led by Dr Nasser Ayoub at the 13th Egypt CSR Sustainability Forum. Due to rising carbon legislation and demanding building certifications in the region, the demand for EPDs has considerably increased in the past year. EPD MENA’s prime goal the coming year will be to support the opening of more EPD licensees in the region. The new regional office will also lead more capacity-building workshops about LCA& EPD. The workshops aim to expand the number of practitioners in the regional market, making it easier for manufacturers to develop their EPDs. The International EPD System will govern EPD MENA.
Ayoub, the CEO of EPD Egypt, is known for his long-time experience in Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations. He is an accredited Life Cycle Assessment practitioner from the American Life Cycle Assessment Center, a representative of Africa in the UNEP Lifecycle Initiative Steering committee, and the EPD International Technical Committee Chair. During his time at EPD Egypt, Ayoub has successfully raised awareness about EPDs in Egypt and neighbouring countries. This made him the suitable choice to become the CEO of EPD MENA.
