The Tool Project Report shall be used during tool development to document the tool’s purpose, design, scope, methodology, calculation logic, data sources, controls, and functionality. It serves as the primary technical description of the tool and shall be maintained and updated throughout the development process to reflect any changes or enhancements.

The Tool Verification Report shall be prepared by the tool verifier to document the independent assessment of the tool. The report shall record the verification findings, identified issues, requests for clarification, corrective actions, and the final verification conclusion.

The verified scope shall be clearly defined and documented, including, where applicable, the covered production sites, companies, product groups, and other relevant boundaries of the verification.

The tool owner shall provide the verifier with all necessary supporting documentation and retain the completed verification report and associated dialogue records as part of the registration submission.

One or more pilot EPDs shall be generated using the tool to demonstrate that it functions as intended and produces complete and compliant outputs.

The pilot EPDs shall be representative of the intended scope of the tool and shall enable the verifier to assess the input data, calculation methodology, generated results, and compliance of the EPD format with applicable requirements.

The Simplified Tool Verification Report, for Pre-verified LCA/EPD Tools, shall be prepared by the tool owner or the tool verifier. This document defines the verification approach for EPDs generated using an approved tool following tool registration.

The report shall describe the verification scope, responsibilities, verification activities, required evidence, and the conditions under which the simplified verification approach may be applied.

The first EPD, or initial set of EPDs, generated using the tool shall undergo a conventional EPD verification as part of the initial tool assessment process.

The verification report and associated dialogue shall document the verification of the pilot EPD(s), including findings, requests for clarification, corrective actions, and the final verification outcome. These documents provide evidence that the tool is capable of generating EPDs that comply with the applicable PCRs and programme requirements.
