The Compiler functions as a structured web-form that mirrors the content of an EPD in the traditional PDF format. It does not perform LCA calculations or generate LCA results.

However, fully pre-verified EPD tools can automatically generate all required EPD information and transfer it directly to the EPD Portal through the upstream API, significantly reducing manual data entry (GPI 5.0.1 §8.6).

There is currently no confirmed release date for a copy function. The Secretariat is reviewing this feature request, and future development will depend on user needs.

For users publishing EPDs via fully pre-verified EPD tools through the upstream API, this issue does not arise, as data can be generated and transferred automatically.

Construction PCR 2019:14 v2.0.1 currently allows the use of value ranges when confidentiality is required. Although the Compiler does not yet support ranged declarations in the product composition section, the Secretariat is considering adding this functionality in future updates, while ensuring that data remains machine-readable and parsable.

Customisation of the PDF layout is not possible. The PDF output is automatically generated based on the reporting requirements in the PCR and GPI.

Please note: in the Compiler workflow, the digital format of the EPD is the primary output, while the conversion from the digital format into the PDF version is optional. The key objective is to ensure standardised, machine-readable digital EPDs. 

There is currently no requirement to use the Compiler. However, the Secretariat encourages EPD owners to transition from traditional PDF-based workflows toward web-based digital EPD development to enhance data accessibility and streamline data management.

Yes, fully pre-verified EPD tools must use the upstream API to automatically transfer data to the Compiler interface. The resulting EPDs are published in digital format in the EPD Library.

An LCA report must be submitted to the verifier as part of the verification process.

However, only the EPD verification report is essential for the publication of an EPD in the International EPD System, while an LCA report is voluntary.

Verifiers have full access to the digital Compiler version and the PDF format. The Compiler improves clarity and makes verification more efficient, as its structure provides a transparent and consistent overview of all data.

Variation must be declared for all products included within the scope of an “EPD of multiple products.”

To calculate variation between two values, divide the absolute difference between them by their average and multiply by 100 to obtain the percentage.

When more than two values are involved, the maximum variation must be reported, as required by GPI 5.0.1 §7.2. (See example in footnote 23.)

Note: PCR/c-PCRs may have more specific requirements on variations that must be followed (if any) 

At present, additional environmental performance results cannot be imported into this section of the Compiler. All values must be entered manually.

The Secretariat is actively working on enabling data import functionality in future updates of Compiler.

Yes. The Compiler will be updated to support new c-PCRs as they are released, and work is already underway to ensure compatibility.
